PINT Japan is the Japanese variant of the Peppol International Invoice (PINT). The specification is managed by the Digital Agency, the Japanese Peppol Authority, and is optimised for the Japanese tax system and local invoicing practices.

PINT Japan adds Japanese business rules to the international PINT framework. The specification accounts for the specific requirements of the Japanese tax system, such as the Qualified Invoice System (QIS) that Japan introduced in 2023.

Peppol adoption in Japan is still in its early stages compared to Europe and Singapore, but it is growing steadily. The Digital Agency promotes e-invoicing as part of a broader digitalisation agenda.

PINT Japan support on the eConnect PSB is on the roadmap; the variant is not available for regular customer flows and PINT Japan lookups are not executed yet. Today the PSB does support PINT Singapore as the production-ready PINT variant.
