Unregister your organisation from Peppol: when, what the consequences are, and how it works.
Want to stop receiving e-invoices via Peppol, or fully unregister your organisation from the network? You can manage this yourself through the platform. Below you can read when unregistering makes sense, how to do it, and what the consequences are.
There are several situations in which you might want to adjust your Peppol registration:
You can disable receiving documents via Peppol per identifier:
From that point on, no new e-invoices will be delivered via Peppol on that identifier. Invoices that were previously received remain available in your archive.
Tip: if you turn off receiving but leave sending enabled, you can still send invoices via Peppol. Only receiving stops.
Want to completely remove your organisation from the Peppol network? Then turn off both sending and receiving for all identifiers. Your organisation will no longer be discoverable on the network and will not be able to send or receive documents via Peppol.
Important: if you fully deregister, suppliers and customers can no longer reach you via Peppol. Invoices will then fall back to email or postal mail. Make sure your trading partners are aware of this.
If you want to end not only your Peppol registration but also your full eConnect account, please contact support. The support team will guide you through the cancellation process and ensure that your existing documents remain available in accordance with retention requirements. Existing documents remain available in line with the Dutch retention obligation: seven years for regular documents, ten years for documents relating to real estate.
A Peppol identifier can only be registered with one Service Provider (Access Point) at a time. Want to switch to a different provider? Then a migration procedure is required.
A Peppol participant ID can be transferred to another provider via a migration code — the ID does not need to be re-created from scratch. Two conditions apply: you must authorise eConnect in writing/legally to carry out the transfer, and you must have no outstanding financial obligations (unpaid invoices) with eConnect.
To start the process, use the cancellation/termination form on support.econnect.eu — not via a support request. After submitting the cancellation, you receive a migration code. Pass that code to the new provider, who will use it to re-register the ID.
During the transition you remain reachable on the network, so suppliers can continue sending invoices. Are you a developer? Then the same procedure is available via the prepareToMigrate API endpoint (see Migration via the API).
Are you an intermediary with only an authorisation (not the Administrator role) on the client organisations? Then you often cannot start a self-service cancellation or migration yourself for those client organisations. Want to transfer multiple client organisations or environments to another provider in bulk? Contact support for a bulk cancellation/migration process (one migration key per Peppol ID). For this, provide: for each organisation to be migrated the organisation name and Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number (and the eConnect ID if known), the name of the intermediary account/environment(s), and whether it concerns all client organisations or a selection. For large volumes, the financial clearance and generating the keys can take a few days up to around two weeks — this is indicative, not a hard SLA.
Two different processes: migration versus only stopping the authorisation. Not every bulk request from an intermediary is a migration. Does the client organisation want to stay with eConnect itself, with only the intermediary stopping its own access? Then that organisation does not belong in the migration selection. In that case, the client (or their administrator) withdraws the authorisation/partnership with the intermediary themselves via Partners — see Cancel authorisation. Withdrawing connection keys or ending an authorisation is not a substitute for an SMP migration and vice versa: only organisations actually switching to a different Service Provider belong in the migration selection.
It is important to understand what changes after unregistering:
Existing documents in your archive are not deleted. You always retain access to previously sent and received invoices, as long as your account is active.
