How to add an organisation to your eConnect environment and activate it via iDEAL | Wero or invoice.
Before you can send or receive invoices via eConnect, you need to add an organisation to your environment and activate it. After activation your organisation is automatically registered on the Peppol network.
Note: you activate via Activate now on the organisation page, not via Pay & Recharge. That screen is for topping up your transaction credit and is unrelated to organisation activation. If you see a message there that payment methods are disabled, that is normal (especially with the Invoice Portal subscription) and not relevant to activation.
Registering an organisation or company with eConnect (including for Peppol via the Chamber of Commerce) is self-service: you create an account, add your organisation and activate it -- without a separate registration procedure via support.
Go to My environment and click Add organisation.
The platform searches the Chamber of Commerce database (Netherlands) and the KBO database (Belgium) using your Chamber of Commerce number, enterprise number or company name. Once your organisation is found, the company details are filled in automatically.
Multiple search results for your company name? Choose the result whose registered (statutory) name literally matches the organisation you want to activate. eConnect does not look up or confirm the Chamber of Commerce number on your behalf -- this remains the customer's responsibility (KYC). Use the chosen Chamber of Commerce number during activation; the regular account verification follows afterwards (see "Activate via iDEAL | Wero" below).
Select your organisation from the search results and confirm the addition. Add only your own organisation (or the organisation you will be managing). Customers you send invoices to do not need to be added.
Tip: besides the "Add organisation" button in My environment, there is also always the round orange action button in the bottom right of the screen. This is visible to administrators and offers the same function.
Is your organisation not found in the search results? Choose the option "I want to enter the details myself". The platform then asks for which country the organisation should be added:
Is your organisation not found for another reason (recent Chamber of Commerce registration, name change)? Read more in Organisation not found during registration.
Received a "Registration ... received" email, but the organisation is not yet in the list? That is a confirmation of receipt of your self-entry request, not yet an approval -- the review can take a few days. See Organisation not found during registration for the full explanation.
Don't see the orange action button or the "Add organisation" button in My environment? The most common cause is that your current login is not an environment administrator -- only administrators may add organisations.
Once you are logged in with an administrator account, both the "Add organisation" button and the orange action button are visible again.
"Add administration" or "extra administration"? Customers usually mean adding a new organisation (Chamber of Commerce entity) to the environment, not a separate administration entity within one organisation. In that case, follow the steps above for adding an organisation.
Can a colleague activate using your login? No -- activating and adding organisations can only be done by an environment administrator themselves, not via someone else's login ("activate via this login" or "activate via my login"). Log in with your own administrator account for the environment.
Search variants: "no orange organisation button", "orange plus not visible", "plus button bottom right gone", "cannot add organisation button missing", "add organisation button missing", "administrator orange plus", "add administration", "extra administration", "add administration no permissions", "activate via this login", "activate via my login", "non-administrator activate organisation", "no results add organisation".
"No results" when adding an organisation? First check whether the issue is missing permissions (no orange plus/button visible, see above) or a search with no match in the VPD/Purple Pages database (see Organisation not found during registration). These are two different causes.
"No results" when adding an organisation? First check whether the issue is missing permissions (no orange plus/button visible, see above) or a search with no match in the VPD/Purple Pages database (see Organisation not found during registration). These are two different causes.
Received a forwarded Identity email and want to "register under the OIN" of a client or municipality so you can invoice them? Also seeing a "403 error" message or API403 Access forbidden after a platform or eHerkenning (We-ID) login while retrieving data at platform.econnect.eu? That is not a Subscription-Key issue, but the same host/organisation cause as below. Follow this order:
Running into a 403 via a developer integration (PSB), for example with a Peppol offering from an ERP connection? That's a different track: see Error handling (API403 Access forbidden section).
Search variants: "register under OIN", "OIN client as own organisation", "verify email address forwarded", "add organisation after eHerkenning", "invoice municipality own OIN", "403 error eConnect", "API403 after eHerkenning", "403 We-ID login", "403 platform login", "access forbidden PartyId authorization platform", "data retrieval 403 platform".
Note: iDEAL is now known as iDEAL | Wero and will transition to Wero only in 2027.
The fastest way to activate your organisation is via an iDEAL | Wero payment of one cent. After payment the platform compares the name on your bank account with the organisation name registered at the Chamber of Commerce.
In most cases this is processed automatically and your organisation is active within moments. Sometimes the name on the bank account differs from the official Chamber of Commerce name, for example because your bank abbreviates the name or because your company has both a statutory name and a trade name. In that case the support team activates your organisation manually after a brief verification.
Tip: preferably use a business bank account registered in the name of the organisation you want to activate. This prevents delays during the name verification.
During the name verification, the support team assesses whether the name on your bank account sufficiently matches the registered Chamber of Commerce name. A small deviation is usually not a problem: an abbreviation with a recognisable core (for example "MTV Ltd" for "Music Television Ltd"), omitting "Ltd", or a bank shortening a long name, is generally approved. If it concerns a completely different name or a different legal entity (for example a separate holding company or another entity with a similar name), the activation is not approved automatically. Does your account name clearly differ from the Chamber of Commerce name because you run a sole proprietorship and pay from a personal account? That is a normal and explainable pattern, not a problem.
Do you think the names match exactly, but activation is still blocked? The platform compares the bank account holder's name with the organisation name on the platform -- not your own impression that it's "the same organisation's account". An account name in the form "Mr" or "Ms" followed by initials and surname (for example "Mr J. Smith") differs in format from the name on the platform (for example "John Smith" or a trade name) and is therefore not approved automatically, even though it concerns the same person. This pattern occurs mainly with sole proprietorships, where the bank account is in the name of the natural person rather than the trade name.
If the name does not match sufficiently, the support team will request a recent Chamber of Commerce extract as proof that you are authorised to act on behalf of the organisation. Send this extract by email to support; once it shows that you are authorised (for example as director or authorised representative), the organisation is activated manually.
Just logged in and immediately hit an activation prompt? For new customers, a support request often starts as a login problem (for example with eHerkenning) and turns out on closer inspection to be an organisation activation that still needs to be completed. First log in with your email address and password at platform.econnect.eu, then add your organisation and activate it with the €0.01 payment. If activation gets stuck after payment, see below.
Search variants: "login activation pivot", "new account log in first then activate", "log in first then activate organisation".
No free manual SEPA/bank transfer of EUR 0.01. eConnect does not provide an IBAN or bank details so you can transfer a separate EUR 0.01 payment yourself outside of iDEAL | Wero | Bancontact. If you don't have iDEAL, Wero or Bancontact available, choose the manual method under Activate now instead (invoice of EUR 15 excl. VAT, EUR 18.15 incl. 21% VAT) -- do not transfer EUR 0.01 yourself.
Search variants: "manual transfer 0.01", "bank details activation", "no iDEAL invoice portal", "register invoice portal payment", "can I transfer 1 cent", "IBAN activation eConnect", "iDEAL not working activation".
Unable or prefer not to pay via iDEAL | Wero? Choose activation via invoice instead. You will receive an invoice of EUR 15 that you can transfer. After receiving the payment, the support team activates your organisation. This typically takes a few business days.
This method is also the default for Belgian organisations, because iDEAL | Wero currently only supports Dutch bank accounts for activation.
After activation your organisation is immediately ready to use:
Organisation activated but apps such as Sales invoices are still unavailable? If you see the message "There are currently no active organisations in your account. To create a new invoice, at least one activated organisation is required" when opening or uploading, first check which stage your organisation is in:
Is the organisation already activated, but apps are still missing or not working? Log in again -- after a manual activation, a fresh session is sometimes needed before all apps are visible and usable. Submitting sales invoices is only possible via the Sales invoices app on an activated organisation.
Search variants: "sales invoice app not available", "sales invoice not working after activation", "cannot access sales invoice app", "apps missing after activation", "log in again after activation", "organisation activated but app missing", "apps missing after manual activation", "sales invoice app not visible after activation", "no active organisations in your account", "at least one activated organisation required", "paid €0.01 twice", "activation stuck after iDEAL", "waiting for activation message".
You can manage multiple organisations in the same environment. This is useful if you have a holding company with subsidiaries or if you invoice for multiple branches. Each organisation gets its own Peppol registration and its own invoice numbering settings. The transaction credit is shared across all organisations in the environment.
Go to My environment > Add organisation to add another organisation. The activation process is the same as for the first organisation. Only an environment administrator may add organisations. Support does not add an organisation without permission from that administrator.
Want to invoice on behalf of an organisation that is separate from the email domain you are logged in with? Then that organisation must be listed in the environment, activated, and you must be a member of it -- or you use a separate environment on that organisation's domain. See Invoicing on behalf of an organisation other than your email domain.
Want to add a foreign organisation (for example a German or Italian company invoicing a Dutch client)? Follow this route:
Go to My environment and click Add organisation.
If the company does not appear in the search results (no Chamber of Commerce number or enterprise number), choose "I want to enter the details myself" and fill in the company details manually.
The eConnect team verifies the submitted details manually. Once completed, the organisation is created in the platform.
Activation costs for foreign companies amount to EUR 15 excluding VAT and are processed manually. After activation the company is automatically active on the Peppol network.
Tip: if the country of the foreign company is not available in VPD/Purple Pages, contact support for manual registration.
If you have chosen manual activation via invoice, there is no option to cancel. To start over — for example with a different bank account or a different activation method — the organisation must be removed by support. eConnect will then credit the activation invoice. After that you can re-add the organisation and activate it again via the regular method.
Contact support via support.econnect.eu and provide your environment and the Chamber of Commerce number of the organisation you wish to re-register.
Has support removed your organisation as part of an account transfer, ownership change, or splitting environments? The same self-service principle applies:
Search variants: "organisation removed re-create", "create in new environment", "reactivate organisation after support", "old documents back after removal", "documents gone after removing organisation", "after support removal self-service".
Ready to start sending invoices? Create an account on platform.econnect.eu.
Activate organisation
Activation via iDEAL | Wero costs one cent and serves as identity verification. If you choose activation via invoice, the cost is EUR 15 excluding VAT. For Belgian organisations, activation via invoice is the standard method because iDEAL | Wero currently only supports Dutch bank accounts.
Sometimes the name on your bank account differs from the official Chamber of Commerce name, for example because your bank abbreviates the name or because your company has both a trade name and a statutory name. In that case the support team activates your organisation manually after a brief verification. You will receive an email about this. Do not retry the payment.
Does the name deviate too much to be approved without further verification? Then the support team will request a recent Chamber of Commerce extract showing that you (or the person who paid) are authorised to act on behalf of the organisation, for example as director or authorised representative. After receiving and reviewing the extract, support activates the organisation manually.
Yes. Choose "Add organisation" and then "I want to enter the details myself" if the company does not appear in the search results (no Chamber of Commerce or enterprise number). Fill in the details manually; the eConnect team verifies and creates the organisation. Activation costs EUR 15 excluding VAT (processed manually). After activation the company is automatically active on the Peppol network. If the country is not available in VPD/Purple Pages, contact support.
Yes, after activation your organisation is automatically registered for sending invoices via Peppol. To also receive invoices via Peppol, you need to enable that separately in the organisation settings under Extra information. Receiving is a paid service and requires at least a Basic subscription and sufficient transaction credit.
Activation via invoice cannot be cancelled once the invoice has been created. To start over with a different method, support must remove the organisation. eConnect will credit the activation invoice. Contact support.econnect.eu with your environment and Chamber of Commerce number. You can then re-add and activate the organisation.
When customers report that an organisation "was not saved", the organisation has in most cases been created successfully but not yet activated. This is not a failed save, but a missing activation step. Open the organisation and click Activate now on the organisation page. Only after activation is the organisation ready for use, including for Peppol. Activating is not the same as saving; "not saved" is a customer description for the missing activation step.
Yes. Payment of the platform invoice by a different (parent) legal entity than the registered entity does not block activation. Activation is linked to the registered entity; the payment is settled against the invoice number regardless of who pays. If eConnect is aware that the paying party is indeed the parent company, the subsidiary will be activated normally. We recommend paying from the bank account in the name of your own organisation to avoid any confusion during the name verification.
This message means that the primary identifier (OIN or Chamber of Commerce number) is already linked to an existing activation in the platform. This often occurs because you — or a colleague — previously registered the company in another account or environment.
First check whether another account or environment exists in which the organisation is active. If so, resolve the duplicate through that account. Support cannot simply release, delete or transfer the identifier, as this may have unintended effects on the other registration.
An organisation can only be activated if at least one identifier has been verified. If that is not the case, the platform only shows the manual activation method; the iDEAL | Wero option is not shown at all. In the English platform UI this can also appear as the message "there is no verification method available for this identifier": functionally the same cause as below -- the platform cannot verify the entered identifier.
The most common cause is choosing the wrong country when adding the organisation. For example: a Belgian organisation is added while "NL" is selected as the country. As a result, no identifier is verified. The error message then reads something like "Verify one of the identifiers before the organisation can be activated".
"IBAN rejected" or the message "Verify one of the identifiers…"? An IBAN is not an activation identifier -- the message points to a missing verified business identifier (Dutch Chamber of Commerce or Belgian KBO), not a failed IBAN step. First choose the correct country, save the organisation as retrieved (no IBAN or other extra fields on the first save) and then click Activate now. An IBAN is optional and can be added later, or filled in per invoice under Payment details.
Order for this message — try self-service first, then enter manually:
Solution: re-add the organisation with the correct country, so the identifier can be verified. After that, the organisation can be activated via iDEAL | Wero or invoice.
Note: this is a different scenario than a failed name check after an iDEAL | Wero payment (see the question above, "My iDEAL payment succeeded but my organisation is not active, what now?"). In that scenario the automatic payment option is shown, but the payment itself does not immediately lead to activation.
Choose the result whose registered (statutory) name literally matches the organisation you want to activate. eConnect does not look up or confirm the Chamber of Commerce number for you -- that remains the customer's responsibility (KYC). Use the chosen Chamber of Commerce number during activation on the platform; the regular account verification via iDEAL | Wero or invoice follows afterwards. "Verifying your account before you can send an invoice" is the same step as organisation activation, not a separate part.
First check whether the organisation is really active already: completing "Activate now" does not automatically mean the organisation is already active -- the activation may still be in progress (for example with an outstanding iDEAL | Wero payment of €0.01 or an unpaid manual invoice). If the organisation is already activated but apps such as Sales invoices are still missing or not working, log in again. After a manual activation, a fresh session is sometimes needed before all apps are visible and usable. Submitting sales invoices is only possible via the Sales invoices app on an activated organisation.
This message appears when opening or uploading a sales invoice as long as there is no activated organisation in your environment. First check which stage your organisation is in: (1) not yet in the organisation list -- a pre-approval review is in progress, see Organisation not found during registration; (2) in the list but not yet paid -- follow Activate now (iDEAL | Wero €0.01 or manual invoice of €15 excl. VAT); (3) already paid €0.01 (repeatedly) but not yet active -- activation is in progress (weekly batch), do not pay again. If you see the status Activation in progress in the platform, that confirms the same phase (3). If the organisation is already activated but apps are still missing, log in again: after a manual activation a fresh session is sometimes needed before all apps are visible and usable.
